Season 2 (2101) Games

Gameweek 1

Going into week one we started season 2 with 4 divisional games and 3 games between playoff teams from last season. Both Conference Champions were rewarded with home fixtures but the most hotly anticipated game was

Mumbai Jumbos @ Barcelona Bulls

Two teams who many felt would contest the ROTW Conference final last year - Kimberley Diamonds had other ideas and beat them both on the road to advance to (and win) Legend Bowl I.

At the Bullpen, Mumbai won the toss and chose to defer. Barcelona began with a methodical, clock-chewing drive that culminated with a 5 yard TD pass from Scott Travis to Jose Drake. An almost 8 minute, 75 yard drive on 16 plays. Mumbai were a little more sluggish out of the blocks as both teams struggled to get any forward momentum on the next two drives.

The first quarter ended with Mumbai driving into Barcelona territory only to turn the ball over with a Terry Thompson interception on the first play of the second quarter. Helped by a pass interference penalty for a first down, the Bulls charged down the field to open up a 14 point lead with a Eugene Guajardo 6yd TD run.

The remainder of the half was a field position battle which the Bulls seemed to be in control of and they went in to the locker rooms with a healthy 14 point lead.

The second half looked like becoming a war of attrition with both teams struggling to gain any traction on there respective opening drives. Then boom! Jumbo QB Terry Thompson hits Wayne Pak for an 87 yard TD and it's game on at 14-7.

Barcelona's next drive led to a missed 55 yard field goal attempt, leaving Mumbai with great field position. Could they take advantage? - Two plays later and Terry Thompson gave us the answer, throwing a pick to Edward Reyes. Another stalled drive from Barcelona ended with a 54 yard Thomas Vargas field goal and a 10 point lead.

Having been stifled through much of three quarters, Terry Thompson finally found his mojo early in the 4th, driving his charges from their own 12 yard line to a first and goal at the Bulls 9 yard line. Luis Miller bobbled and dropped a ball on first down, Harry Boyd sacked Thompson on 2nd down and then Thompson threw the ball straight to Barcelona's Ronald Laird.

With 11 minutes remaining, there was still time for a comeback, first they needed to pin Barcelona inside the Bulls own 20 and get off the field. Barcelona had other ideas, 3rd and 5 on their own 17 and Eugene Guajardo busts loose for a 62 yard run. This led to a Vargas 37 yard field goal and a 13 point lead with 6:47 on the clock.

Mumbai then proceeded to turn the ball over on downs, giving Vargas a chance to all but secure the win with a 38 yard FG - he missed. Four minute drill time for Thompson and the Jumbos, they got to halfway and punted, now with 2 minutes remaining it was now or never. Guajardo blotted his copybook for the Bulls with a fumble.

Mumbai were sparked into life and two plays later Thompson found Anthony Garrick with a 2 yard shovel pass for the score. The Jumbos recovered the ensuing onsides kick, leaving them trailing by 6, with 1:42 on the clock and one timeout remaining. The 4th quarter comeback win was on.

A Robert Raposa sack forced Mumbai to burn the final timeout, the 11 yard loss would prove crucial as it left the Jumbos needing to convert on 4th and 1 at the Bulls 43. Robert Raposa broke through the line and forced a quick throw from Thompson...incomplete. Barcelona were then able to take a couple of knees and celebrate a hard fought, deserved victory

Mumbai 14 Barcelona 20

Elsewhere, Conference Champions Yellowknife Daggers and Legend Bowl Champions eased themselves into the season with comfortable home wins over Tabasco Chilli Peppers (0-52) and Reykjavik Ice (7-26).

In the other games between last years playoff teams, Montego Bay Pirates won in Cusco (27-21), holding on at the death after leading 24-7 at the end of the first quarter. Thunder Bay Lightning were also road winners in South America. Coming from behind, twice, to win 9-6 in a defensive slugfest.

The divisional rivalries saw Nelson Admirals proving to be Kryptonite once more as they overcame the Royals (22-9) in Edinburgh to go 3-0 in the series against the GB&I division Champs. Caracas Firecrackers kept up the run of road victors with a hard fought 17-16 victory over Amazon Poison Dart Frogs. This was one of only two wins for Amazon last year.

In the River Run Derby, Zambezi River Rhinos had to comeback from a 7-6 half time deficit to maintain a perfect record 3-0 record over The Nile Crocodiles. This 13-7 win was much closer than last years 2 blowout wins. The final divisional encounter of the week saw El Dorado Gold Nuggets breeze into Kentucky and tame the Stallions in a 21-3 success. This was the first time this fixture has produced a road winner.

The 'Shock of the Week' had a few contenders. Killarney Blarney Stones were very impressive in a 25-3 win over Beijing Red Dragons. Alaska Eskimos (25-7) looked very good in a road win over Jeddah Djinn, both sides are under new stewardships so hard to guage just how good this result will prove to be. With that in mind, this weeks '***' victory goes to Luxor Sphinx who shut out the Black Forest Elves (20-0). Remember the Elves went to the playoffs and arguably were Kimberley's toughest opponent en route to Legend Bowl I. Luxor finished last year 4-12 after opening up with a 10-0 home defeat to...The Black Forest Elves.

'Blowout of the Week' was a Devil of a game with the home team, Roanoke Settlers running out 66-6 winners over Baku Blue. In The 'Magic Hat' Bowl, the Shamen of Haiti Hex held on for a 10-6 win over the Conjurors of Las Vegas. Greenland Labradors came up just shy of their first franchise win, losing 7-3 at home to Havana Smoke.

Finally, in a game closer than the final scoreline suggests the Baghdad Assassins were pegged back to 7-7 in the 3rd quarter before closing out the game in Tiger Bay with a 10-0 fourth quarter to give them a 17-7 win over the Sabretooths.

Week 2: Key games - well, they're all key but which games look to be the best matchups.

Greenland Labradors @ Amazon Poison Dart Frogs: The two teams are a combined 2-32 going into this match. One of them could be .500 after 2 weeks of season 2

Buenos Aires Gauchos @ Cusco Flying Serpents Two divisional foes who went to the playoffs and started this season with home losses. They split the series last year, with both sides winning at home.

Alaska Eskimos @ Thunder Bay Lightning Both teams off to a perfect start with road wins. Thunder Bay owned the Eskimos last season, winning in weeks 1 and 4 by a combined 62-25. Alaska are now under new ownership, expect this to be closer

The Jumbos are experiencing growing pains with thier new offense and defense (same HC though). The Bulls came to play and we could not get any real momentum going . If this is the trend for the jumbos season we could be watching the playoffs on TV andn Qb Thompson could hit the trade block before mid season . He has had openly stated the jumbos are better offensively playing out of multiple receiver sets ......and is not a fan of the HC and his new plan .

Elves 6 @ Conjurors 3 :Not much magic in Vegas, Elves escape with a win
Settlers 17 @ Stallions 3 :Stallions sluggish start continues
Diamonds 23 @ Firecrackers 13 :Brave effort from Caracas but defending Champs move smoothly on
Bulls 9 @ Crocodiles 3 (OT) :Great effort from the Crocs to slow down and almost stop the Bulls. No rewards for an OT loss though.
Gold Nuggets 2 @ Smoke 14 :El Dorado lacked any sort of lustre
Hex 0 @ Daggers 43 :Daggers remain perfect, yet to concede a point in 8 quarters
Ice 14 @ Sphinx 10 :Luxor dominate everything but the final score
Assassins 22 @ Blue 55 :Heck of a bounce back from Baku after week 1 drubbing
Sabretooths 20 @ Djinn 9 :Sabretooths balance pays dividends, Djinn QB throws 4 picks as Jeddah run the ball only 8 times
Blarney Stones 5 @ Jumbos 35 :Ah, the Mumbai we grew to love are back in the building, Killarney struggling to put points on the board so far
Admirals 19 @ Chilli Peppers 21 :Chilli Peppers had the better of the 'momentum' plays, opening with a KR TD and then making Nelson pay for missing a FG to go 9-7 up. Garbage time TD makes it look closer than it was.
Royals 3 @ Pirates 7 :Only 2 drives of any note in the game, Royals got 3, Pirates got 7 in a game that won't live long in anyone's memory
Eskimos 0 @ Lightning 23 :Thoroughly dominant home win for the Lightning. Eskimos can't run, won't run offense stall badly.
Labradors 3 @ Poison Dart Frogs 18: Greenland's perfect run continues - 18 games without a win.

Red Dragons 24 @ Rhino 25

Beijing jumped out to a 14-3 lead at the half. Zambezi made some smart in-game adjustments at the half and went into the final quarter trailing 17-16. A 6 yard TD pass early in the final quarter looked like it would be enough for the Chinese side. Zambezi kept swimming against the tide and kicked three unanswered field goals in the final 10 minutes - including a 31 yarder as time expired.

Gauchos 16 @ Flying Serpents 14

A very evenly matched encounter, with the stat sheet barely able to seperate the two teams. Buenos Aires jumped out to a 10 to nothing lead early in the second quarter. Only to see Cusco come charging back to lead 14-10 at the half.

The third quarter was a stalemate and the game looked poised for a grandstand finish when the Gauchos pulled to within one in the final quarter. With 3:27 remaining, Buenos Aires retook the lead on a 30 yard field goal. Cusco responded by moving down the field to the very edge of field goal range - bizarrely they chose to punt, it was a decision they lived to regret as the Latino Cowboys were able to run the clock right down. Eventually leaving Cusco 12 seconds, no timeouts and needing 40 yards to get into FG range. They got a yard on one play and time expired.

GAMEWEEK 3

Poison Dart Frogs (1-1) @ Flying Serpents (0-2)
Gold Nuggets (1-1) @ Elves (1-1)
Crocodiles (0-2) @ Sphinx (1-1)
Settlers (2-0) @ Ice (1-1)
Stallions (0-2) @ Gauchos (1-1)
Eskimos (1-1) @ Daggers (2-0)
Firecrackers (1-1) @ Conjurors (0-2)
Assassins (1-1) @ Djinn (0-2)
Jumbos (1-1) @ Sabretooths (1-1)
Red Dragons (0-2) @ Admirals (1-1)
Lightning (2-0) @ Labradors (0-2)
Chilli Peppers (1-1) @ Smoke (2-0)
Blarney Stones (1-1) @ Royals (0-2)

GAMES OF THE WEEK

Diamonds (2-0) @ Rhino (2-0): Key divisional battle between two unbeaten teams. The Diamonds won both games comfortably last year but as Legend Bowl Champions they carry a rather large target on their backs this year.

Blue (1-1) @ Bulls (2-0): Another key divisional battle Barcelona are the reigning European Champs but they have started rather sluggishly, albeit with a 2-0 record. Baku responded well to a week one humbling by the Daggers, which Blue team will turn up for this game.

The Bulls won both games last year but the 28-24 game in Barcelona was a classic.

Hex (1-1) @ Pirates (2-0): The Hex got schooled in week 2 by the Daggers, this should be a much closer contest. Montego Bay won both games in the series last year, by 7 and 10 points. This should be another tight one as both sides have shown they can defend stoutly

Poison Dart Frogs 17 @ Flying Serpents 31 Cusco get first win on back of dominant first half performance. Both teams sit at 1-2
Gold Nuggets 7 @ Elves 23 Elves in control after trailing 6-7 after 1
Crocodiles 3 @ Sphinx 33 Luxor looking like a genuine threat, Crocs drowning at 0-3
Diamonds 33 @ Rhino 16 Diamonds got ahead early to take a 1 game lead in the African division
Settlers 25 @ Ice 0 Settlers smash the Ice to stay perfect
Blue 13 @ Bulls 44 Bulls stomp the hue out of Blue in key divisonal match
Stallions 6 @ Gauchos 3 After a scoreless three quarters, Kentucky upset Gauchos in Buenos Aires for first win with 31 yard FG clinching it in final 30 seconds.
Eskimos 0 @ Daggers 54 Never in doubt, perfect without conceding a point in 3 games
Firecrackers 6 @ Conjurors 3 Firecrackers move to 2-1 to top division, Conjurors come up just shy #WheresTheOffense
Assassins 20 @ Djinn 44 Jeddah take to the skies with 539 passing yards to join Assassins at 1-2 a game adrift of Mumbai in Asia
Jumbos 33 @ Sabretooths 17 Jumbos rolling, 17 4th quarter garbage time points the only concern as they move clear in Asia
Red Dragons 16 @ Admirals 23 Admirals sail on as Red Dragons drop to 0-3
Lightning 18 @ Labradors 9 Lots of fight in this years Labs, still no wins. Thunder Bay trying hard to keep pace with Daggers
Hex 10 @ Pirates 12 Slightly more comfortable than the score suggests, Pirates stay perfect against improving Hex
Chilli Peppers 13 @ Smoke 14 Chilli Peppers open scoring with a KRTD, Smoke close it out with a KRTD. Smoke stay perfect, Tabasco scratching heads as to how they lost
Blarney Stones 10 @ Royals 9 75 yard TD pass proved to be the difference as reigning GB&I Champs drop to 0-3

Week 4
Sphinx @ Rhino
Key divisional game, both sit at 2-1
Sabretooths @ Blarney Stones Killarney looking to open up a 2 game cushion on divisional foe Sabretooths. Tiger Bay won both games by 3 points in inaugural season
Djinn @ Admirals Batten down the hatches Admirals an aerial assault is coming
Crocodiles @ Gauchos If they can keep it close, the Crocs might steal first victory of the season.
Jumbos @ Royals Royals set to go 0-4 unless they can stop a herd of Elephants
Blue @ Ice Blue won this series by a combined score of 79-17, both sit at 1-2 going in
Bulls @ Gold Nuggets Bulls should stay perfect against a struggling El Dorado
Settlers @ Elves Great offense v great defense. Can the Elves slow down Roanoke enough, I doubt it
Chilli Peppers @ Pirates Massive divisional game for the Chilli Peppers who would fall 3 games back on Montego Bay with a defeat. Pirates owned them last year with 20-0 and 6-5 wins
Hex @ Eskimos Two teams with new ownerships this campaign, both sit 1-2.
Labradors @ Assassins Will this be the week for Greenland? #ProbablyNot
Red Dragons @ Lightning Red Dragons in a world of trouble at 0-3 and a tough road trip to the 3-0 Thunder Bay
Daggers @ Smoke Both teams are perfect, can Havana put points on the board?
Conjurors @ Stallions Another big divisional game, both sides have a paltry 12 points scored in three games. Kentucky have a win though and won both games last year
Poison Dart Frogs @ Diamonds APDF found life tough against the Flying Serpents and their D will find the Diamonds an even sterner test.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Flying Serpents @ Firecrackers Huge divisional game, Cusco will look to put slow start behind them and join Caracas atop the South Americas with 2 wins after this game. Flying Serpents won the series 2-0 last year without conceding a TD.

Week 4

Sphinx 0 @ Rhino 6 Zambezi in control but never comfortable in a nail biter.
Sabretooths 27 @ Blarney Stones 18 Early season divisional win on the road, leaves three tied at .500 atop GB&I
Djinn 12 @ Admirals 10 Djinn threw everything at Nelson and got just enough bang for their buck
Crocodiles 0 @ Gauchos 20 Gauchos cruising as they down the Nile
Jumbos 49 @ Royals 6 Royal woes continue
Blue 31 @ Ice 6 The Blue are riding a rollercoaster this season as they freeze the Ice Offense
Bulls 26 @ Gold Nuggets 15 A couple of late TD passes for El Dorado gave this the look of a closer game than it was.
Settlers 20 @ Elves 13 Black Forest went toe to toe for a while but Roanoke kept finding more.
Chilli Peppers 19 @ Pirates 23 Yet another KRTD for Tabasco's Harold Felan, yet again Tabasco concede a KRTD. The latter meant Montego Bay regained the lead at 17-16 and they wouldn't relinquish it again.
Hex 9 @ Eskimos 10 Eskimos win with 0 rushing yards on 0 carries and throw 5 interceptions. Haiti got Hexed
Labradors 0 @ Assassins 7 Three missed field goals (1x GL, 2x BA) kept this one close. Labs still can't catch a break - maybe next week....
Red Dragons 6 @ Lightning 3 (OT) Lights go out on Thunder Bay with a 56 yard field goal as time expired in OT to break Beijings duck for the season.
Daggers 32 @ Smoke 20 After 13 perfect quarters, Yellowknife conceded a TD, comfortable enough win as Havana become the first side to post 20 points on the Daggers - a victory for AI coaching?
Flying Serpents 17 @ Firecrackers 10 Caracas and there #1 rushing offense fail to get a single first down from rushing the ball despite running 33 times for 134 yards. They fell behind 17-0 and only garbage time kept it respectable
Conjurors 18 @ Stallions 13 Two teams that traded field goals in the first half as they went in level at 6-6. Las Vegas eked out a 12 point lead before a late Stallion strike kept the score respectable.
Poison Dart Frogs 16 @ Diamonds 44 The PDF poked the Bear when they took a 10-7 first quarter lead. In a game with 8 INT's we still saw 60 points

Week 5

Eskimos (2-2) @ Smoke (3-1) Havana proving tough to beat
Ice (1-3) @ Bulls (4-0) Reykjavik kept both games close last year but lost both games
Pirates (4-0) @ Admirals (2-2) After the big QB trade, all eyes will be on Victory Field - Admirals need a win.
Gauchos (2-2) @ Poison Dart Frogs (1-3) Two sides who play tough D. BAGgers own the series 2-0 in two #OnlyJust games
Rhino (3-1) @ Diamonds (4-0) The Delbert Birdsong era begins for Zambezi with a road trip to Kimberley - ouch. Diamonds are 3-0 in the series.
Crocodiles (0-4) @ Elves (2-2) The Toothless Crocs should keep it close against an Elves team that likes to keep the score low.
Sphinx (2-2) @ Firecrackers (2-2) Three yards and a cloud of dust, don't expect points in this defensive masterclass
Flying Serpents (2-2) @ Stallions (1-3) A tricky road trip, Cusco flying after being grounded in first two weeks
Conjurors (1-3) @ Blue (2-2) Can Vegas conjure up another win, they'll need to score plenty to do it.
Gold Nuggets (1-3) @ Settlers (4-0) This looks like being a cruise for Roanoke but although going 2-0 on El Dorado last year the wins were by 4 (10-6) and 3 (24-27) respectively
Daggers (4-0) @ Labradors (0-4) This would be the shock of all-time if Greenland won this game. Both teams have perfect regular season records (20-0) and (0-20). Last years games finished 75-0 and 91-7 but Yellowknife conceded 20 points in there first road game of the season last week.
Lightning (3-1) @ Jumbos (3-1) Thunder Bay were looking like they could be genuine threats to divisional rival Daggers until last weeks hiccup. They should find themselves 2 games adrift this time tomorrow.
Djinn (2-2) @ Blarney Stones (2-2) The Air Raid sirens have been blasting all week in Killarney, the Djinn are coming and they're going to ride a magic carpet because they love to see the ball in the air.
Chilli Peppers (1-3) @ Hex (1-3) Two stuttering Offenses, two solid defenses makes for a close 10-9 sort of game. A split series last year with two road wins (15-9) and (6-10) - expect more of the same this time around.
Royals (0-4) @ Sabretooths (2-2) The Royals losing streak runs to 8 games (including the final three weeks of last season and the Wild Card loss at home to Beijing. Tiger Bay beat them twice last year makes it hard to fancy an Edinburgh revival this week.

GAME OF THE WEEK:

Assassins (2-2) @ Red Dragons (1-3) split series last year, both road wins, including an OT game, both teams are better than current records suggest.

Week 5

Eskimos 7 @ Smoke 27 Havana move to 4-1, new owners moved into town this week - will that de-rail them.
Ice 7 @ Bulls 31 Barcelona cruise past divisional rival
Pirates 13 @ Admirals 10 Montego Bay win it with late FG in typical low scoring affair
Gauchos 13 @ Poison Dart Frogs 0 Amazon continue to make life tough, Latino Cowboys move to 3-2
Rhino 13 @ Diamonds 45 Kimberley tame the Rhinos in turnover riddled game
Crocodiles 6 @ Elves 17 Black Forest defense made this very comfortable, last minute TD providing the Crocs with some degree of pride
Assassins 0 @ Red Dragons 26 Impressive from Beijing in shutout divisional win
Sphinx 10 @ Firecrackers 41 Caracas coming out party against a 'supposedly' smothering Sphinx defense.
Flying Serpents 7 @ Stallions 22 Cusco threw this one away after early 7 point lead. Four interceptions later and the Stallions were prancing around the Paddock
Conjurors 11 @ Blue 24 Baku got off to a flyer with 14 point first quarter lead. Slumber fest through 2nd and 3rd quarters before a wild final quarter
Gold Nuggets 9 @ Settlers 34 Settlers wear down El Dorado before 20 point salvo in the final quarter
Daggers 39 @ Labradors 0 At first glance it looks bad, but the result is a major improvement on last 2 games versus Yellowknife. Take out the 32 point second quarter and it was only 7-0!
Lightning 12 @ Jumbos 31 Welcome to 'Fumbleooza' come and see your team cough the ball up - five total fumbles in the game won't have pleased either teams coaching staff.
Djinn 12 @ Blarney Stones 16 Jeddah throw 4 picks, one returned for a TD and there 'Can't Run, Won't Run' Offensive scheme was snuffed out.
Chilli Peppers 7 @ Hex 0 18 punts, 1 interception, 1 missed field goal and 7 points on the back of a 7 play, 80 yard TD drive. Defensive masterclass.
Royals 10 @ Sabretooths 27 For three quarters Edinburgh did everything right and led 10-6. Then they capitulated on the back of a fumble and boom, boom, BOOM Tiger Bay mauled them

Week 6

Pirates @ Lightning This looks to be a good matchup for Thunder Bay. The Lightning are allowing a miserly 42 yards rushing per game. Their elite level D should give them the edge TBL x5

Djinn @ Crocodiles Djinn start as 10 point favourites, Crocs have to find a way to stop the aerial assault of the #4 ranked passing offense.

Rhino @ Gauchos This at first glance looks to be one of the games of the week. The Gauchos run D is giving up just 34 ypg. If they can cut down on defensive penalties they are an elite unit. The stats have BAG as 13 point favourites!

Poison Dart Frogs @ Gold Nuggets Two teams built to stop the pass - ranking 4th and 5th in pass yards defense. Neither can stop the run though, ranking 31st and 32nd. El Dorado look to have a mildly more potent offense and that's enough to make them 4 point favourites

Settlers @ Conjurors Roanoke are heavy favourites here (13 points), built around a strong defense (leagues best D - 2nd in both PYA and RYA). Throw in the #2 ranked rushing offense and you can see why Roanoke are one of the best all round teams in the league.

Assassins @ Daggers Baghdad start this game as 22 point underdogs. They will be heavily reliant on there 9th ranked passing game. Yellowknife should have little difficulty stopping BA whilst running up the score on the back of the most potent offense in the league.

Sphinx @ Blue Luxor have built around stopping the run game this season. Unfortunately, Baku are a pass first, pass second and pass third type of Offense. The Blue's 3rd ranked pass O should be the difference in this one and they start as 4 point favourites.

Ice @ Stallions This has the look of 'Upset of the week' about it. Kentucky have struggled to move the ball on offense all season. The D are also very average, yet they start as 7 point favourites. Reykjavik will feel they can get something from this if they can keep it close, they will expect to see improvement from a 32nd ranked rush attack.

Elves @ Bulls Strength v strength as Barcelona's potent passing game (8th) will look to knock the Elves off their perch as #1 ranked passing D. Black Forest are struggling to pass the ball and defend the run and thats why the Bulls start as 29 point favourites with my system.

Red Dragons @ Labradors Beijing start as 10 point favourites but I suspect this could be much closer than that. Neither side has been able to pass the ball all season but Beijing have at least put together a semblance of a run game. Greenland should see a bit more of the field on Offense in this game. If they can make home field count, today could be the day....

Admirals @ Jumbos The Jumbos start as just 5 point favourites. Why?, The Admiral D are built to take away the run and slow down the aerial assault. Nelson should be able to move the chains, at times. IF they can keep Mumbai to 350 yards or less of O they have a squeak at a shock result.

Smoke @ Hex Havana start this game as 8 point favourites despite both teams being fairly evenly matched. Despite having opposite records of 4-1 and 1-4, I like the Hex to get a result here. Quite where they will get the O from remains to be seen but I feel Havana's record flatters them.

Blarney Stones @ Sabretooths Tiger Bay start as 2 point favourites in the Game of the Week. This game should establish seniority and bragging rights in the GB&I division. The slight edge comes on the back of Tiger Bays potent passing game (ranked 8th). The problem they have is stopping the pass (ranked 27th) and that will keep this game on a knife edge for 60 minutes.

Chilli Peppers @ Royals Edinburgh have been a pale shadow of last years division Champions but this is a game to potentially turn the tide. Tabasco start as 7 point favourites as they have shown they can move the chains with a modicum of success (particularly through the air). If Edinburgh can run the ball, keep the score close and chew clock, who knows.

Diamonds @ Flying Serpents Kimberley are 5 point favourites here but this could well be played in the air for the majority of the day as we have the #5 and #6 ranked passing O's. What seperates these two teams is that the Diamonds can run the ball and Cusco have trouble stopping the run. For the South Americans to win this they will want to get ahead early and keep scoring.

Firecrackers @ Eskimos Caracas start the day as 9 point favourites having finally uncorked a passing game last week. Alaska are ranked stone cold last in pass yards allowed and would've been hoping to see the Firecrackers stick to their philosophy of run, run and run some more. If Caracas pass the ball for 200+ yards here, they win easily, if they rush for 200+ it could be a coin flip....

Apologies, I had no time for a week 6 review/week 7 preview - hope to return to normal service tomorrow, following (perhaps) the craziest set of results in League of Legends history
